New Workshops!

by Mindy on December 17, 2012

After our summer and fall hiatus, I’m going to be running a new project at the Harbourfront Community Centre starting in January. It’s funded by a generous grant by the Canada Council for the Arts, and I’ll be working with the same team of artists that I did last spring. Lisa Pijuan-Nomura, Cathy Nosaty, May Friedman and I will co-lead 10 weekly workshops that will culminate in the creation of a piece that we’ll present in June.

Originally this project was supposed to be a continuation of the Good Mother project, but I’ve decided not to impose a theme this time, as I want to let the themes emerge organically from the group of participants. We’ll generate questions together and then use those questions as jumping off points for storytelling, music, sound, and photography.

Everyone is welcome to join us, and if you’re interested, go to the workshops page for information about how to register. Also, feel free to shoot me any questions. The workshops are free, and childcare is provided, although it’s limited (first come, first served, and if there’s an overflow your child can stay with us in the workshops).

As usual, I’m excited and nervous about how the process will unfold, but that’s part of the fun.
